This spring, the Multicultural Leadership Program is partnering with Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois State Universities to host three interns who will support the program, while learning hands-on skills.
Steph Holliger is the Graphic Design Intern. She is a senior Graphic Design student at Illinois State University, hailing from Orland Park, Illinois. Self-described as creative, goofy, and easy-going, Steph looks forward to expanding her design skills as well as watching the growth of the 2017 MCLP class and their graduation. She came across the Multicultural Leadership Program through her school’s internship opportunities. Immediately, she found interest in the vast community projects of the program, saying, “Their social work really resonated with me.” Through graphic design, Steph hopes she can assist in the great community work MCLP does for this semester.
Sophie Popovich is the Events Intern. A senior History student with a Women’s Studies minor at Illinois Wesleyan University, she comes from the suburb of Plainfield, Illinois. A passionate, hard-working, and empathetic individual, Sophie was impressed by those who worked at the Multicultural Leadership Program, saying, “You could see the employees were really passionate about what they were doing.” Sophie hopes to take her innate passion and channel it into the event planning process, eventually creating a set of skills transferable to non-profit work after she graduates.
Eva Kossmann is the Writing and Editing Intern. She is a sophomore English student with a History minor at Illinois Wesleyan University, from Palatine, Illinois. Talkative, imaginative, and caring, Eva is excited to gain professional experience among people of a common and important interest. Upon seeing the Multicultural Leadership Program’s name at IWU’s internship fair, Eva says, “The phrase ‘Multicultural’ intrigued me in a world that needs more diversity.” Eva looks forward to observing and aiding the program’s dedication these next months.
